5 Wardrobe Essentials for Fall

Happy Monday everyone! Call me crazy, but Monday is my second favorite day of the week. Saturday is my favorite day, but I must admit I love the feeling of a fresh start, new goals and new beginnings.

It’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Pittsburgh. After weeks of hot, humid temperatures, we had our first weekend of 60/70 degree weather and it felt so good. I can finally pull out the fall clothes I’ve been waiting to wear since September.

Fall is such a fun season to dress for, and there are a few classic pieces that I think are essential to a fall wardrobe.

Jean Jacket

Fall is a “transition” season and the random temperatures can make it hard to find something to wear. On slightly breezy days, winter clothes are too heavy but summer clothes are too light. Does this dilemma sound familiar?

Jean jackets to the rescue! I love having a quality jean jacket in my closet. They are a great way to transition a warmer-weather outfit into the cooler months. Throw one over a light shirt or dress, and you’re good to go.

My jacket here is from American Eagle, but it’s a few years old. I couldn’t find a similar one on their website, but Old Navy has one I really love right now (and you can’t beat the price).

Cable Knit Sweater

I love a good cable knit sweater. It’s such a classic piece that never goes out of style. They can be dressed up for the office or dressed down for a weekend of running errands.

This season, I especially love the J Crew crewneck cable pointelle cotton sweater (and it’s currently on sale).

Riding Boots

A quality pair of riding boots are a staple for fall. I’ve always had plain brown boots, but this year I’m considering buying a black/brown combination such as the Mani Riding Boot by Tommy Hilfiger.

Tartan Scarf

Scarves are a really easy way to change the look of an entire outfit. I just ordered an oversized tartan scarf and it arrived yesterday. I love it and the price was great.

Seasonal Handbag

When choosing a fall handbag, I try to keep to nature’s fall color scheme: brown, red, mustard or auburn. My favorite fall handbag right now is my red Michael Kors crossbody (similar to this one) that Alan got me for Christmas last year.
