It’s Friday, yay! This was a busy but exciting week. Here are a few highlights.
Our basement renovation is coming along wonderfully! Alan had a vision for the space that I truthfully couldn’t see until we started to paint.
I didn’t take a “before” shot (I am so disappointed) but the walls were originally painted a pale yellow and the wainscoting was a dated linoleum pattern. The fresh paint and funky carpet tiles breathed a whole new life into this room.
We also bought a couch on Groupon, of all places! It was delivered yesterday and is the perfect size. It would be way too small for a regular living room couch, but for a basement or college dorm/apartment space, it’s ideal.
I’ve decided to take a new direction with my blog going forward. I’ll be writing more about classic style, family life and traveling. Fitness is a huge part of my life, so I’ll probably have a bit of that mixed in as well.
There are a few reasons for this shift. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I used to write about the environment regularly. Truthfully, this subject matter was taking a huge toll on my mental health. Although I’ll still be eco-friendly in my personal life, and you’ll still see posts from time to time, I can’t write about it every day anymore.
Second, I feel like my topics were a little too spread out before. With the new direction, I hope to focus my writing and become an expert on this new subject matter. I’ve been working hard to improve the quality of my photos and create content every day. It’s been challenging, but so fun!
The Mindset Mentor with Rob Dial
I found a new podcast this week that I really like. It’s called “The Mindset Mentor” and it’s available on Spotify.
This podcast focuses on the power of positive thinking. Rob makes a lot of great points and his episodes are short and concise. I’ve noticed on a lot of podcasts lately (especially the motivational ones), the hosts tend to repeat themselves over and over to add to the length of the episode. I appreciate that Rob keeps his episodes brief and effective.
I’m currently planning Daphne’s 2nd birthday – it’s next weekend already! She loves Barney, but I quickly realized how hard it is to plan a Barney birthday in 2019.
I am planning on making her cake from scratch. I found a few cake toppers online, but nothing like in had in mind. Pretty much the only decorations I can find are vintage and cost a fortune. I’ll need to exercise my creative juices for this party, for sure.
Hope you all had an amazing week. We are planning a low-key weekend and I am here for it! If you enjoyed this post, please follow me on WordPress and check me out on Instagram @haileighsenatore.
