Happy Birthday, Mom

As you probably guessed from the title of this post, today is my mom’s birthday! She deserves the world for everything she’s done for me, but I hope my gift, a blog post and a balloon are enough to show her how much she means to our family.

Throughout my life, my mom has been my constant pillar of support. When my anxiety gets the best of me, she’s often the first person I call to talk things through. Her witty sense of humor and practical nature make even the worst things seem manageable.

Speaking of humor, my mom is truly one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. No matter what we’re doing, she can always make me laugh. When my sister is added into the mix (another incredibly funny person in my life), we are guaranteed to be laughing for hours on end. I cherish the time I spend with both of them and I hope they know they always lift my spirits.

Now that I’m a mom myself, I hope to be Daphne’s source of guidance and comfort, just as my mom is to me. My mom always puts my sister and I first, and I realize now how important that is. Looking back, I see that she always took our side, always cheered us on and always stayed in our corner. She did this even during those teenage years when I didn’t deserve it. I appreciated it at the time, but only now that I’m an adult do I realize the extent of her love and commitment.

Now, about that gift I mentioned earlier. I can post this part now since the cat’s officially out of the bag! Instead of a traditional present or dinner this year, I decided to organize a girl’s weekend in our favorite city: the Big Apple! We haven’t been to NYC for a few years now and I can’t WAIT to go back.

Here’s to you, Mom. On your birthday and every day, I hope you know how much you mean to our family. Thank you for everything you do and for being such a great example of unconditional love.

Happy birthday!
