It’s Friday everybody. To be honest, this week was a tough one, full of highs and lows. I’m thankful because Daphne has been sleeping really well, which means we all function better.
Writing as Therapy
This week we received some sad health news about someone in our family. We all have been feeling a mix of confusing emotions.
Writing really helps me when things get hard. Blogging is a welcome distraction that takes my mind off of my worries and provides me with a much-needed creative outlet.
When times are tough (and even when things are going well) I think it’s important to have a hobby to refocus and energize you. Find something that makes you happy, and make sure to make time to enjoy it.
New Morning Routine
Alan and I have been trying a new morning routine this week. Instead of packing lunches in the morning, we’ve been packing them the night before. This gives us about an extra half hour in the morning that we’ve been using to stretch and wake up slowly.
It’s been really nice to start the day with some light physical activity. I feel like it sets a productive (yet relaxed) tone for the rest of the day. I would highly recommend it!
Baseball is Back
I love baseball and I’m glad it’s finally back on TV! Alan is a huge baseball fan, too, and we try to go to at least one game every summer. Now that it’s officially baseball season, I can feel spring right around the corner.
Baseball is one of those comforting things I like to have on in the background while I’m doing household chores or making dinner.
This is a bit quirky, but when my anxiety levels were high a few years ago, the calming voice of a radio baseball announcer always helped me feel better. Even today, when I have much less anxiety than I used to, I still love the calming sounds of a baseball game.
